The goal of the game — make a winning hand and be the first to declare “Mahjong”!
Basic Mahjong Rules
The game is traditionally played by 4 players. Each player competes to collect four sets (trios or sequences) and one pair.
Start of the game: each player receives 13 tiles, the dealer receives 14.
Game play: players take turns drawing new tiles and discarding extra tiles.
Goal: to collect combinations as quickly as possible and shout “Mahjong”!
Draw: if all tiles are used up and there is no winning hand, the round ends in a draw.
Tile Combinations
Pong (Three) - three identical tiles (for example, three “2 Bamboo”).
Chow (Sequence) - three consecutive numbers of the same suit (for example, 4-5-6 in circles).
Kong (Four) - four identical tiles that give an extra turn.
Pair - two identical tiles needed to complete a combination.
When Do You Win?
Once you have collected four sets and a pair, you declare “Mahjong” and the game is over. Points are scored according to the difficulty of the combinations, and the winner is the player with the most valuable hand.
